Project Manager turnover is a fact. Chaos in projects—a choice.
In business, as in high mountains, changing the leader mid-journey is the moment of highest risk.
Project Continuity System™ supports organizations in ensuring the ability to continuously achieve project objectives—despite changes, turnover, and disruptions in the team or structure.
In practice, this means maintaining continuity of knowledge, decisions, processes, and accountability so that the project can safely continue and deliver value regardless of leadership changes.
I support organizations, PMOs, and project leaders in maintaining project continuity, stabilizing the work environment, and preserving the ability to effectively achieve objectives and deliver value to clients—even during times of change and crisis.
Project continuity = the project's ability to achieve its objective without interruption, despite changes in people, roles, and organizational conditions.
Project Continuity is a state in which knowledge, decisions, and accountability are anchored in the system, not just in the minds of leaders. It is a guarantee that the project does not lose momentum when people change.
When a project loses its guide...
Most organizations base project success on the “heroism” of individuals. When a leader leaves or changes roles, the project enters a phase of turbulence and improvisation. Without a systemic approach to continuity, this change generates hidden costs that directly burden your business.
Information and Decision Gap
A new leader needs an average of 4 to 8 weeks to fully understand the context and decision history. Effect: The project "stands still," even though salaries are being paid and the clock is ticking. Risk: Making wrong decisions due to lack of access to "skeletons in the closet" and the history of agreements.
Erosion of Trust and Relationships
Changing a PM without an established handover process raises concerns with the client and lowers team morale. Effect: The client begins to question the organization's competence, and the team loses a sense of direction. Risk: Reactive "firefighting" instead of strategy execution.
Loss of "Project Memory"
Knowledge about "why" we did something often leaves with the person. Documentation rarely reflects the real state of play. Effect: Repeating the same mistakes and having to "reinvent the wheel." Risk: Exceeding budget and deadlines due to lack of process continuity.
“Chaos during change is not an accident. It is a consequence of the lack of process. Organizations lose predictability when strategic knowledge remains solely in people’s heads, not in the structure of the system.”
Project Manager turnover is a fact.
Chaos—a choice.
In today’s business world, the departure of a key leader is not a question of “if,” but “when.” You can hope that the next change will proceed without improvisation or chaos, or you can design a system that guarantees it.
This motto captures the essence of my approach. In project management, “hope” and improvisation are not a strategy. True organizational maturity and project manager professionalism are revealed in how they handle moments of transition.
PCS™ together with the proprietary Project Takeover & Handover process is your plan to ensure that a leadership change never means expedition failure.
Project Continuity System™
PCS™ is a proprietary approach developed based on over 18 years of experience in managing projects, programs, and working in environments of high organizational and business complexity.
It was created as a response to a real gap visible in many organizations and project management standards—the lack of a systemic approach to maintaining project continuity during moments of change, leader turnover, and crisis situations.
PCS™ supports organizations, PMOs, and project leaders in:
- taking over and handing over projects,
- stabilizing projects requiring reorganization,
- reducing operational chaos,
- securing project knowledge,
- increasing project and organizational resilience to personnel changes,
- maintaining the organization’s ability to effectively achieve objectives and deliver business value to clients.
The system combines project management practice, experience working in challenging project environments, and an approach focused on accountability, continuity, and operational stability.
PCS™ develops at the intersection of two perspectives:
—individual accountability of the project leader,
—and systemic organizational accountability for continuity and stability of the project environment.
